How to experience Project 1

Project 1 is a different kind of public art experience, one that’s only complete when you take part.

What to expect

Beyond just looking at artworks, you’re invited to be part of Project 1. The commissioned artworks are spaces not just contemplation, but for action. This is an exhibition about what it means to belong in a city, and belonging is a state of being, not just a concept. Project 1 is built with you in mind. You’re invited to sew fabric that will wrap a building, sing a song from a rooftop, send a message across the Grand River, dance the night away and more.

Attend an event

Project 1: Crossed Lines is composed of a series of installations across the city, each one activated by one-time-only performances, so be sure to attend Saturday events at each site throughout the fall. And while you’re here, don’t miss the myriad performances, exhibitions and more produced by our cultural partners and other happenings throughout the city.
